Abstract:

At the Palas Experimental Station in 1954 a Caucasian Merino [C. Rambouillet] ram was used on 38 Palas Merino [female][female] and a Stavropol Merino ram on 40 P. M. [female][female]; P. M. [male][male] were used on 25 C. M. and on 27 S. M. [female][female]. Lambs sired by P. M. [male][male] had the greatest body weight and were best developed. Fleece weight, staple length and clean wool yield were greatest in crossbreds sired by S. M. [male][male], and greater in crossbreds sired by C. M. [male][male] than in purebred P. M. s. Wool density and uniformity were greater in P. M. s than in S. M. s or in C. M. s and in the crossbreds were similar to those of the P. M. s. Wool fineness, density and uniformity were greater in crossbreds sired by P. M. [male][male] than in purebred S. M. s or C. M. S-Abstract of summaries. G. R. R.
