Document Title: Principles of hotel front office operations: a study guide.
Abstract: The book is designed to help students new to the hotel industry to explore thoroughly the principles and concepts of front office operations. Activities are provided throughout to help students move from an understanding of the basic principles to thinking like a front office person. With appropriate help from their lecturers, students are encouraged to analyse and think about the various systems and alternatives. The chapters follow a typical guest from check-in to check-out with small detours to other areas and departments. The text is organized and written in a student-centred, user-friendly way and supported by numerous diagrams and tables. Each chapter includes activities at relevant points in the text, an end-of-chapter summary, and review and discussion questions. The book also includes a detailed glossary of useful terms. The book is suitable for BTEC, City and Guilds students, National Vocational Qualifications (levels 3 and 4), as well as for those taking HCIMA examinations and undergraduates on hotel and catering management courses.
