Abstract:

Cuminum cyminum is cultivated in the dry areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat where wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cumini), blight (Alternaria burnsii) and powdery mildew (Erysiphe polygoni) cause heavy yield losses. In Rajasthan, witches' broom, probably caused by a mycoplasma-like organism, caused losses of 7-30.6%. Details are given of the symptoms, incidence, factors affecting and available control measures for these diseases.
