Abstract:

A review and comparison of methods for the detection and identification of T. indica in wheat samples and T. barclayana in rice samples are presented. Methods include visual and microscope examination, washing test, seed soak method, viability test, filter and centrifuge examination and nucleic acid based methods. The significance of detection and accurate identification of teliospores of Tilletia spp. for quarantine regulations is discussed.
