Abstract: A greenhouse study was conducted to determine the resistance of 20 grape cultivars to the plant parasitic nematode Meloidogyne incognita. Rooted cuttings of Vitis vinifera cultivars Bangalore Purple, Black Champa, Black Damascus, Black monukka, Country Bangalore, Gulabi, Jawahar, Kalisahebi, Muscat White, Pandhari Sahebi, President and Rubired; V. labrusca cultivars Bangalore Blue, Catawaba, Italian Eliquina, Khalili and Large White; and V. champini cultivars Champanel, Degrasset and Dogridge were inoculated with 2000 second stage M. incognita larvae per plant per pot and were uprooted after 6 months for evaluation of nematode reproduction. Only Black Champa, Dogridge and Degrasset were resistant to M. incognita, while Pandhari Sahebi and Champanel were moderately-resistant. The remaining cultivars were either susceptible or highly susceptible to M. incognita.
